OUTRAGED!

I am outraged, yet helpless! Early morning brought the newspaper, and in it the news that a 13 yr old girl in Snehalya (the place where some of my kids live), was found to be 3 months pregnant! HUH????? WHAT?????? Couldn’t believe what my mom was telling me! So I hurriedly scanned the news report, thankfully, none of the staff members or the boys  of the place were involved. The girl had gone home and one Om Prakash (maybe her guardian or someone) violated her. On suspicion she was sent to the GMCH-16 and the pregnancy confirmed. I mean, she is a 13 yr old girl for heavens  sake!
I don’t know what will they do with her. Send her away from that place am sure. Where, no clue. Thats what had happened when a young girl, barely 16, had walked in, though the medical check up showed that shes carrying a child. And am sure not willingly!
What the bloody hell is wrong with the men of this nation? Why is their sexuality uncontrollably violating the rights, choice and the privacy of others? A child of 13 yrs..!!! that man is reported to be married and supposedly has two kids! Would he dare do the same with his daughter? Coming to think of it, it is a hard to accept possibility.
I wonder if the poor girl will be allowed to abort the child. legally, she will have to approach the Court to seek permission for the same. She being a minor, her consent doesn’t hold good in law. Fortunately, just this april, the Gujarat High Court has allowed a young teen ager, who was repeatedly raped for a over a year by her neighbour  and then became pregnant, to abort the child. The trail court, though, had held that physically she seems capable of carrying through the pregnancy and thus refused. The High Court accepting the plea that the pregnancy will cause mental and physical trauma to the victim, who was already 2 months in the pregnancy, allowed her to abort the child. The local government hospital was entrusted with job and also made responsible for her post operative care.
Being a practical humanist, I am really appreciative of the verdict. In the present case, I am really doubtful if an abortion will take place, the minor girl, already being 3 months pregnant. Even if the Punjab and Haryana High Court, as it had in the Nari Niketan case, allowed the termination of pregnancy of a violated woman of unsound mind, a lady lawyer for a ‘crusader’ got the order quashed from the Supreme Court. The baby girl was born, she lives with her mother and the other mentally unsound people of that Govt home. She does bring a lot of joy to a lot of people there, no doubt, but once the ‘hearted’ officials are posted out, replaced, God forbid, by some corrupt ‘heartless’ ones, then? I wonder if that ‘crusader’ lawyer contributes even half an hour in a week to the little baby, for whose birth she fought till the top!
Deep within, am hoping its not one of the girls i call my own. They are like my own children, my siblings.  I have seen each of them grow into young girls, and am scared. I am really scared. I don’t know if the girls there even know of the case. They usually donot disclose much to the children. I just hope not. And if they do, i wonder how will they take it. Intend to visit the kids this Sunday.
Also, a batchmate of mine called today. He had a fabulous idea to help kids with education. Need to see the viability of the same and a lot of other things. I really hope we can do a lot with his initiative and ideas!
But my wish for the day, and for a long time to come, is to just take away my kids to safer, loveable place, where they can grow up as kids, with carefree laughter. Not mature before their age, living in fear and threat of naked, blatant cruelty.
Disgusting bloody SOB that rapist for a B***@#*is!

  1. I just read it in the newspaper too...and was outraged by the incident. I do not understand how people can call themselves social advocates and then advocate for a CHILD giving birth to another child. This is ridiculous.
I am thankful for laws in the US that emancipate a girl who is pregnant and give the girl the right to choose whether she wants to have the pregnancy or not regardless of her age. Even in India, I think, the court should take into account what the child wants. Minor or not, its still HER LIFE!!!
The court should work towards making sure that the children under their care are not molested or raped, rather than dooming more children to this fate.
I am also thankful for the gynaecologist who voiced her opinions and said that even though terminating a pregnancy at 3 months would be a risky procedure, but it can be done with the consent of 2 doctors.
And Sucha, there is truth in your words about the growing up of these children. Yes, the child may have a good life where the child is being loved by mentally handicapped people, but IS THIS THE LIFE THAT ANYONE WANTS FOR A CHILD? Is this the life that any parent would want for their child? Imagine all the psychiatric burden that we (courts and "social advocates") are forcing on such children... to be born out of an act of rape? to be born to a mother who is still a child? to have no parenting what so ever? to be raised by the government of India???
And I am horrified at the fact that it was a LADY lawyer who went all the way to the supreme court to fight against the abortion of the Nari-niketan female. DISGUSTING!!

Another incident in the newspaper that pissed me off today was "After Sibal, Sukhbir wants to help a Leh-girl: Punjab govt adopts...." --WTF?? Really?? If Sukhbir wants to help the Leh girl then why not do it out of his own pocket? Why not do it at a personal level, on his own conscience? Why do it for the sake of publicity, and put it on the government??? The girl's future might actually be harmed by this act because the ngo's and other people would not take care of her thinking she is the ward of Punjab govt, and I am sure that Punjab govt is going to forget about her pretty damn soon.

  2. ah! nice to have the support mrit.. well, i didnt know about the Leh girl, but the Punjab Govt's money or Badal's own money- its believed to be the same damn thing!
trust them for ruining a lot of futures!u have no clue the levels to which corruption is prevalent! look at Mayawati- where ppl are dying of starvation, she is erecting stone statutes of elephants and herself! even otherwise, blatant bloody misuse of the tax payer's hard hard earned goddam money!
and well, the Indian law has certain justifications for the minor, but really, in this case i dont even know if someone is approaching the Court!
mrit, the Indian and the American society differ a lot..but the otherwise so active lawyers are sleeping this time? the mother of that girl, if there is, should be asked to approach the court and ask for the abortion, for her daughter's sanity!
will go the place on sunday and see whats up..

  3. Im not a big fan of capitalpunishment bt such men deserve no less...i support wot u n ur frnd amrita feel bout this whole thing..i did a bit of net searchin myself to find out how things work in indian judiciary and came to know tht....

According to MTP ACT 1971(medical termination of pregnancy) , this lil grl is entitled to a Therapeutic abortion(if continuation of pregnancy endangers life) as well as Humanitarian abortion (if pregnancy is the outcome of rape). Termination of pregnancy is allowed upto 20weeks & for termination of pregnancy between 12-20weeks two doctors must concur that there's an indication.(so she still has a chance)

Her being a minor is a slight problem bt if she is supported by a good lawyer i think it can be done(bt wid each passin day she is approachin tht 20 week mark n as the fetus grows complications of MTP increase)....i sincerely hope n pray tht she manages to find the courage to get on wid her life after this incident...

I like wot u r doin n wana do for the kids over at dis place 'snehalaya' i.e for their education n stuff....plz let me knw if i cn be of any help.
